Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting between the two countries signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Salehi said the visit of Marek Maďarič to Iran marks a prelude to deep political, economic and cultural relations.
In the meeting, also attended by deputy culture ministers of Iran and Slovokia, Salehi Amiri said agreement to hold cultural week, active participation in art and book fairs, cinematic cooperation and cultural diplomacy are among the provisions of the MoU signed between the two countries.
“After the implementation of JCPOA, Slovakia was the first country to sign the Memorandum of Cooperation with Iran,” Salehi noted, adding the visit of Slovakian minister of culture to Iran represents the operational phase of agreements and joint plans.
Maďarič, for his part, expressed satisfaction with growing relations between Tehran and Bratislava in political, cultural and trade fields.
"Slovakian foreign policy consists of four parts, one of which is to develop ties with Eastern countries, in addition to the West,” he noted.
Maďarič underlined that despite high geographical distance between the two countries, culture is an important factor to reduce the gaps between nations.
